A nourishing Thanksgiving

We know this time of year can bring its own unique struggles. Business, travel, hosting, and family dynamics are enough to stretch anyone thin. We aren’t strangers to these things ourselves, and we remember the days when food restrictions added fuel to the fire. The holidays have a way of illuminating things, and our personal relationship with food is no exception.

We believe that food is meant to be enjoyed, that diets are overrated, and that constant cravings are often a result of undernourished bodies. Thriving metabolisms require fuel. We also believe that the quality of our food matters; our health is impacted by what we eat over time.

We hope to encourage you to support yourself well with food this holiday season. Below is an example of a from-scratch Thanksgiving menu. It is complete with recipe links and any modifications that we suggest. This is not a sugar-free, dairy-free, low-calorie, or low-fat menu. It is, however, seed oil free and easily modified to be completely gluten-free. This is a nourishing feast. One meant for a celebration. We hope you can partake guilt-free, knowing days like this are special. We also hope you feel confident that you are still choosing good, whole food ingredients. This is intended to inspire you. Whether you decide to make one dish from scratch or your entire meal, we hope to show you that holiday meals can be deeply nourishing. Holiday plates can be balanced, and you can leave feeling good - physically and emotionally.

Appetizers:

Deviled Eggs

Bacon-Wrapped, Brie-Stuffed Dates

Main:

Turkey

Sides:

Twice-Baked Potatoes

Garlic Green Beans

Mac N Cheese

  • Modifications: We suggest using 2 to 2.5 tablespoons of cassava flour in place of all-purpose flour. You can make the entire dish gluten-free by substituting the noodles for Jovial GF pasta.

Roasted Carrots

Sauces:

Gravy

  • Modifications: Consider using 3 TB cassava flour and turkey drippings or chicken broth.

Cranberry Sauce

Dessert:

GF Apple Crumble

If you’re looking for additional resources on how to pick the best quality ingredients, we include a Product Sourcing Guide in our Jumpstart Guide. It is currenlty 50% off with Code “GUIDE50”.

We share this in hopes that it inspires you to choose things that serve you well this season - on and off the plate. Here is your reminder to fuel yourself well. Regardless of what you eat, we hope you can pause to give thanks for the body, the food, the people, and the season. There are so many blessings in it all!

Wishing you a happy & healthy Thanksgiving,
